Shoot 2026-04-24-104814

I've been out birding quite a bit this spring. I've been trying, and failing, to not to take too many photos because of all the work I impose upon myself in dealing with them. There have been some good birds around, and some few other nice photo opportunities have come up including some hummingbirds and Bald Eagles flying low.

A neighbor alerted me to a Dusky Flycatcher just down the street, a great bird here, but the best bird of the gallery the Black-throated Sparrow (a lifer!). This bird was easy to find and was quite tame. What a nice-looking sparrow!

The above hashes-<date>.txt file contains SHA-256 hashes of all the photos from this shoot. The hashes-<date>.txt.sig is a signature of that hashes file, created with my PGP key. The signature file itself was written to both the Bitcoin Cash and Algorand blockchains, in the OP RETURN and Note fields respectively, using the transactions below. In short, this proves that these photos and the signature both existed at the time the transactions were written to the Bitcoin Cash and Algorand blockchains. This blog post has more details.

European Starling

We don't often get Starlings in the yard here, which I'm grateful for.

European Starling, Northern Flicker (Red-shafted)

This Starling chased this Northern Flicker away from the Flicker nest cavity, and soon after saw it eating something. Perhaps an egg.
