To start things off for May I have a few photos from a nice walk down at the wetlands. There were some cooperative (for photography) birds including Common Yellowthroat, Black Tern, Bald Eagle, and Black-bellied Plover, but the highlight for me was well more than a dozen Black-necked Stilts! I'd never seen so many in one day. I managed to get fairly low for some of the shots, and got lucky with a gap in the grasses. I later learned that the ones with a brownish color to their backs are females, and many of these photos are of a male and female together.

I left the camera is 1.6x "crop" mode here but still managed to fit all four stilts in the same frame. There was also a Long-billed Dowitcher hiding there as well, which I didn't even see while editing the photo!
