January 18, 2022: "Nested Julias" by me
This Julia set location has a prominent nested Julia set, which is a feature I hadn't seen before. Usually I've seen much smaller, more complex central features.

January 24, 2022: "Magnum Opus Ex" by stardust4ever
All credit for this image goes to "stardust4ever" from the fractalforums.com board, for discovering this amazing Mandelbrot set location. This is his 2011 Deviant Art page for this location.
Here's a similar location posted to the forum in 2016. Also, check out all his fractals on Deviant Art! They're awesome.
This is my favorite Mandelbrot set location I’ve ever seen, and it was discovered around 2011 by stardust4ever (on fractalforums.com), after what sounds like a lot of searching. This location is a large X shape, which is made of smaller X shapes, which are made of even smaller X shapes (stardust4ever fittingly called them chromosomes).
Using Very Plotter, the large render linked below took over 86 hours to render. This location has a maximum iteration setting of 400,000 iterations, and nearly 360,000 iterations were skipped per pixel. The 86 hour render was done with 8 JavaScript worker threads on my M1 Mac mini, at 10856x7760 pixels (>84 megapixels). It was resized down to make a smooth and clean final result.

February 14, 2022: "Ridge" by me
Using slope shading without smooth colors gives a terraced look. And by using a "too low" number of iterations, we get a black region along the very center of the ridge. I'm not sure it made any difference but I like how the terrace "bumps" look when zoomed in on the image, so the 3200x1800 render is a cropped portion of a larger render.

February 15, 2022: "Flake" by Dinkydau
This Mandelbrot set location was first posted by Dinkydau to the fractalforums.com board and to Deviant Art in 2013. By the way, check out Dinkydau's Deviant Art gallery if you're into the Mandelbrot set and haven't seen it already.
I was having trouble rendering this location to my liking. There's a lot of fine detail but it's hard to get it visible in the image without going overboard in the rest of the image, color gradient-wise. After implementing a simple slope shading technique in Very Plotter, the more subtle details look great with a faux 3D-shading effect.

This image was first shared on the fractalforums.com board in May, 2013. That original image is striking, apparently created by layering multiple gradients. This version uses a simpler gradient plus slope shading to bring out more fine detail.
